Why Write a Letter to Your Partner For Your Wedding Day!
I feel like most wedding photos portray every couple as two outgoing people who are having an incredibly comfortable and beautiful time on their wedding day! I'm here to tell you that that is at least partially an illusion. The best way to accomplish this successfully is to plan ahead. With over 15 years of experience as a wedding planner in Upstate New York's Hudson Valley, I can personally vouch for this.. We've planned hundreds of weddings and events, and as our many reviews show, we're experts at making couples feel comfortable, at ease, and stress-free – even happy and carefree – on their big day. Which is the way you should be!
It's not always the big tasks that get everything done, although they're crucial. It's often the small things that make a big difference. If you're new to wedding planning, you might not even think of these little details. Let me share a secret with you. Check out my "Expert Planning Tips" section above to see more tips I've shared. The idea of speaking in front of a small group can be paralyzing for many people. You shouldn't have to deal with crippling anxiety on your wedding day over something that's easily avoided. Yet, it's often a very important and integral part of the ceremony. I suggest keeping your vows simple. They can even be the traditional ones we're all familiar with. You repeat after the officiant. Or, a revised version, possibly omitting the "obey" part. Before the ceremony, take 10 to 15 minutes. Read your personal vows to each other or exchange cards and/or gifts. Most couples choose to take their photos before the ceremony, and I highly encourage you to do so, allowing you to enjoy more of your wedding day with your guests. If that's the case, I'd suggest doing it before pictures. Alternatively, you could do it during cocktail hour. Ultimately, it's up to you whether you want your photographer and videographer present.
Key things to keep in mind:
Should be planned either before makeup is done or with enough time for touchups
They can be either with the two of you together OR you can read them separately
You can do ‘vows’, a note/card, or gifts. It is entirely up to you! Just be sure you are on the same page.
Be sure to build it into your schedule.
You can think of your schedule as a flexible guide, rather than a rigid plan. This way, you won't stress if you're 5 to 10 minutes behind. Remember, every minute counts, so make sure to include everything you want to do in your timeline. By thinking through how it will all work, this will be the key to having a stress-free day!
